CECO
Experience
The Chambersburg Engineering Co. served the closed die forging community for over 100 years from their plant in Chambersburg, PA. Over this century, over 12,000 machines were built and put into production. In 2002, they ceased operations. Ajax, with the help of a number of former employees, began providing parts and service to CECO customers almost immediately. The cumulative experience of this core group totals 130 years and includes all current patent holders (inventors), erectors, servicemen, and engineers.
Since 2002, the CECO division has developed a business serving nearly 200 customers and the number continues to grow. In 2003, a #15 Model “C” Impacter was rebuilt on site with a large number of new or repaired parts. 2004 featured the sale of used #8 Model “C” Impacter, #23 Die Forger, and #8 Die Forger. The #8 Die Forger was completely rebuilt at Ajax. Early 2005 saw the delivery of a rebuilt and recalibrated Power Forger, about 80% of which was completed at Ajax, while the remainder was completed on site. Following this, two (2) #8 and one (1) #15 Model “C” Impacter were refurbished at the customer’ site after having been relocated from another plant location. Current projects include the rebuild and tooling up of a Smeral Cross Wedge Roll for a hand tool manufacturer.
